INA Assitalia is an insurance company Assicurazioni Generali and belonging to the group operating on the Italian market.
With a decree of the Minister Francesco Saverio Nitti, the government of Giovanni Giolitti gave birth in 1912 the INA (National Insurance Institute), a public agency specializing in the Italian monopoly of life insurance.
The Company Assitalia (the exact title was: The Insurance of Italy, Anonymous Society) came into being 25 July 1923. Half the capital is owned directly by INA dell'Assitalia same and half the capital is owned by several private insurance groups.
In 1923 with the establishment of the INA SpA Assitalia comes first in non-life insurance company with others later, in 1927, noting on its own all the shares [1].
Since 1949, the company promotes the construction of housing for workers. It is estimated that this project has led to the construction of 350,000 homes.
In 1992 the government becomes the INA S.p.A. with the aim to privatize the company.
The privatization process began in 1994 with an IPO in 1996 and ends with the sale of the last 31% stake still held by the Treasury.
Over the years the role of shareholders in Generali, a major Italian insurance group, grows more and more until in February 2000 INA Assitalia becomes part of the Assicurazioni Generali group.
Subsequently, 31 December 2006 General, the companies merged to be a significant one: Ina Assitalia SpA
In the past, at different times, was a sponsor of both football teams in the capital.
